Colorado Springs was first inhabited by the Ute and Arapaho tribes’ people before it became a part of El Paso County in 1859. Following Pikes Peak Gold Rush, aircraft were introduced by the Tesla Experimental Station. The Alexander Airport and Colorado Municipal Springs Airport opened soon after, which led to the gradual boom.
Nestled at the feet of the Rocky Mountains, Colorado Springs offers a new standard of living and high quality of life. Entering the city, one of the first things you will notice is the excellent weather. Year-round, the weather is pleasant and often on the cool side, perfect for outdoor activities and all forms of exercise in the clean and cool air.
The city is one of the top destinations because it has a rich history and many historic sites and landmarks located all over the town. Restaurants and nightclubs are found in abundance where you can dine in the mountains, and shopping opportunities are aplenty. Things to Do
Colorado Springs is a bountiful city and offers plenty of things to do and see. With the many trails located around the city, you can enjoy hiking, trekking, and exploring Pikes Peak.
A variety of museums also await you, including the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame and the Museum of Mining and Industry. You can also head to the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center to catch a traveling exhibit or a permanent collection of the state’s best art.
The Olympic Training Center has its home in the city, owing to its athletic life and ice skating, karate, and judo events. Regular festivals and fun events are held in the city with sports competitions and marathons that you can join.

Colorado Springs experiences a semi-arid climate with cool and dry winters, warm summers, and a fair amount of clouds all year round. Eighteen inches of rain occurs on average, while there are about 243 sunny days, which is higher than the US average of 205.
August and September comprise ideal months in the city, while June and July are on the warmer side with temperatures of 84 degrees. December and January are the coldest months, with winter lows of 17 degrees and 57 inches of snow, which happens annually.
Education
There are plenty of public elementary and middle schools divided into many districts, such as the Colorado Springs Schools District, among others located in the heart of the city. It is served by more than 30 elementary schools, nine middle schools, five high schools, six charter schools, and eight alternative options.
Twelve private schools serve the city and even have plenty of opportunities for further education, such as Colorado College, College America, University of Colorado Springs, and Remington College.
Public Transportation
The Mountain Metropolitan Transit serves the city and provides public transportation, intercity routes, and routes throughout Pikes Peak. It also provides transit to Manitou Springs, Widefield Area, and Chapel Hills Malls.
The Mountain Metro Mobility, on the other hand, offers paratransit service for people with mobility issues that cannot use standard public transportation. Bustang provides intercity transportation, while Mountain Metro Rides offers carpools and shuttles to reduce pollution.
The Colorado Springs Airport can be found in the city’s core and offers flights for civilians and the military.

Spanning over 19.3 square miles with 478,221 residents, Colorado Springs offers affordable housing and a rich culture with tight-knit communities amidst picturesque views of the mountains. Being healthy and staying fit is something that residents enjoy because of the many outdoor activities and a plethora of beautiful trails.
There has been significant growth in the business industries owing to the large population of the city. It is known for its booming job market, one of the best in the country, offering jobs in retail, restaurants, and healthcare.
While the city is a little more expensive than the rest of the country, the median home value is around $222,100, with the rent being about $958. Most of the population tend to own their homes, and it’s a small price to pay for living in the Rockies amidst a plethora of amenities and opportunities.
